Install PCRMS Office on Android Devices

The PCRMS Office app is available for Android devices through direct APK download or F-Droid. Choose the installation method that works best for you.

Requirements

  • Device: Android smartphone or tablet
  • Operating System: Android 7.0 (Nougat) or later
  • Storage: At least 100 MB of free space
  • Connection: Internet connection for download and initial setup

Installation Methods

There are two ways to install PCRMS Office on Android:

  1. Direct APK Download - Simple one-time installation
  2. F-Droid - Recommended for automatic updates (see F-Droid Setup)

Method 1: Direct APK Installation

This method is straightforward but requires manual updates when new versions are released.

Step 1: Enable Installation from Unknown Sources

Before installing an APK file, you need to allow your device to install apps from sources other than the Google Play Store.

For Android 8.0 and later:

  1. Open Settings on your Android device
  2. Navigate to Security or Apps & Notifications
  3. Tap Install unknown apps or Special app access
  4. Select your browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
  5. Toggle Allow from this source to ON

For Android 7.1 and earlier:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to Security
  3. Enable Unknown sources
  4. Tap OK to confirm the warning

Step 2: Download the APK

  1. Download the File

  2. Locate the Downloaded File

    • Open your Downloads folder or notification
    • You’ll see the PCRMSOffice.apk file

Step 3: Install the APK

  1. Tap on the APK File

    • Tap the downloaded PCRMSOffice.apk file
    • You may see a prompt asking if you want to install the app

  2. Confirm Installation

    • Tap Install
    • Wait for the installation to complete
    • You may see warnings about installing from unknown sources - tap Install anyway

  3. Open the App

    • Tap Open when installation completes, or
    • Find the PCRMS Office icon in your app drawer

Step 4: First Launch

  1. Grant Permissions (if requested)

    • The app may request permissions for storage, notifications, or other features
    • Grant permissions as needed for full functionality

  2. Sign In

    • Enter your Leviathan PCRMS credentials
    • Username format: yourname@leviathan.systems
    • Use the password provided by your administrator

Updating the App (APK Method)

When a new version is released:

  1. Download the new APK file from: http://fdroid.leviathan.systems/repo/PCRMSOffice.apk
  2. Tap to install (it will update your existing installation)
  3. Your data and settings will be preserved

Note: APK installations require manual updates. For automatic updates, use the F-Droid method below.

Troubleshooting

Installation Blocked

  • Check Settings: Ensure “Install unknown apps” is enabled for your browser
